Customer help

Use this site to find a station, print a file, or install only the printers you check. You do not have to put all 30 on your laptop.

{% if server is defined and server.site_url %}

This server: {{ server.site_url }}

{% endif %}

Open the site from a laptop

  1. Join the office network (same LAN as PrintServer). Guest Wi‑Fi that cannot reach office PCs will not work.
  2. In Edge or Chrome, open the LAN address your admin gave you, for example http://192.168.x.x:8090.
  3. If the page does not load, the laptop is on the wrong network or the server firewall is blocking the website port.

  1. Use the customer account your admin created (not the admin login unless you are an admin).
  2. After sign-in you see printers, station numbers, locations, driver versions, and Connected / Disconnected.

Find the printer in front of you

  1. Look at the station label on the printer or desk (for example ST-12).
  2. Type that station in Search. You can also search by name or office location.
  3. Check Connection. Connected means the server can reach that printer. Disconnected means do not send a job yet.

Use this when you just need to send a document and do not need Word’s Print dialog.

  1. Sign in and find the station.
  2. Under Print through server, choose that printer.
  3. Choose your file and click Send print job.
  4. The server sends the file to the printer IP. You do not install anything on the laptop.

Already have printers and drivers on the laptop?

Yes — you can keep using them. A web browser cannot see your local printers. Use the Windows PrintServer app.

  1. Open the Windows app and sign in.
  2. The On this PC column shows if that station is already installed, or if only the driver is present.
  3. Select the station and click Use existing on this PC. That sets your current printer as the default. It does not add another PS- copy.
  4. If Connect this station finds a match, choose Yes to use the existing one, or No only if you really want a new PrintServer queue.

Disconnect removes only PS- printers. Printers you installed yourself stay. Drivers already on the PC are reused when a new PS- queue is added.

Install printers page (fastest for several stations)

  1. Open Install printers in the top bar (or go to /install).
  2. Search if you want, then check the boxes for the stations you need.
  3. Click Download install script. You get a .cmd file. Double-click it (do not open it in PowerShell ISE). It runs with Bypass so unsigned-script policy does not block it.
  4. Windows gets only the printers you checked. Previous PS- printers on that laptop are replaced by this selection.
  5. Use Clear to uncheck, or Check all in this list after a search (for example every printer on the 3rd floor). That only ticks boxes; it does not install yet. Avoid checking all 30 unless you really need them.

Connect this station as my Windows printer

Use this when you want File → Print in Word, Excel, or the browser. Map only the station you are standing at. Do not add all 30 printers.

A web browser cannot install a Windows printer by itself. Use the Windows PrintServer app, or download the connect script.

Option A — Windows app (easiest)

  1. Open the Windows app page and click Download Windows app (zip), or use the button on Install printers.
  2. Unzip, then double-click Start-PrintServer-App.cmd.
  3. Set Server URL to this site (LAN address and port).
  4. Sign in with your customer account.
  5. Select the station row. If On this PC already shows a printer, click Use existing on this PC.
  6. Otherwise click Connect this station. If one is already installed, pick Yes to reuse it.

Option B — Script from this website

  1. On the printer list, click Connect station for the row you want.
  2. Click Download connect script. You get a .cmd file.
  3. Double-click it. If SmartScreen warns, choose More info → Run anyway. Do not open the file in PowerShell ISE.
  4. If Windows asks for permission to add a printer, approve it.
  5. If it says no driver was found, download the driver for that station, install it, then run the script again.

The script names the Windows queue with a PS- prefix so it is easy to see and easy to remove.

Disconnect when you leave that station

  1. In the Windows app, click Disconnect station, or
  2. On the website Connect dialog, download Disconnect script and run it, or
  3. In Windows: Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners → select the PS-... printer → Remove.

Connecting from a single row, or installing a new checkbox selection, replaces previous PS- printers with what you chose.

Download a driver

Admins and customers can both download driver packages. Use this if the connect script cannot find a Windows driver, or if IT wants the printer installed by IP with the vendor installer.

  1. Find the station and click Download driver, or use the driver library on the portal.
  2. Run the installer on the laptop if it is an .exe, or install the .inf if IT instructed that.
  3. Then use Connect this station again so Word can see the queue.

Test if the printer is online

  1. Click Test on the printer row (website or Windows app).
  2. Connected means print port 9100 or IPP 631 answered.
  3. Disconnected means the device is off, on another VLAN, or the IP is wrong. Tell an admin; do not keep sending jobs.

Windows app summary

You never need all 30 printers installed. Connect the station you are using, print, then connect a different station when you move — or disconnect when you are done.
